Center of Excellence in Innovation in Chemistry (CEIC)

Center of Excellence for in Research for innovation in chemistry (CEIC-NU)

Basic information
To strengthen the research capabilities of the faculty and enhance international recognition, we recognize the need to establish research centers through a consortium of faculty members from various disciplines. This collaborative approach is based on the readiness and academic strength of the researchers. After collecting information on the research potential of the university members, it was found that standout areas contributing to the university’s reputation are those related to research in the field of chemical sciences, especially in studies related to natural products with biological properties for applications in medicine, cosmetics, and nutraceuticals. Additionally, there are research activities in materials science, bioenergy, and analytical chemistry applicable to industry and environmental studies. In this context, researchers involved in these areas should receive support and promotion to foster collaborative work within the consortium. The goal is to achieve sustainability in research productivity and gain international recognition as outlined in the jointly agreed-upon direction by the members of the research institution.

Therefore, this charter is developed to serve as a framework for the operations of the Center of Excellence in Research for Innovation in Chemistry at Naresuan University (CEIC-NU). The aim is to :
1. Develop research in the field of chemical science to achieve excellence at the international level.
2. Innovate research relevant to chemical science that contributes to enhancing the country’s competitiveness. This includes research responding to the food and dietary supplement industry, agricultural products, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
3. Promote the production of doctoral and postdoctoral candidates related to creative innovation in chemistry, ensuring they meet international standards. For example, develop a PhD double degree program (NU-UFC, France).
4. Foster collaboration with high-capacity researchers both domestically and internationally, involving academia, government, and industry sectors. Generate impactful outcomes that contribute to sustainable development in agriculture and industry.”
