Groundbreaking Research Grant Seminar Draws International Expertise to Naresuan University

Naresuan University (NU), through the Research and Innovation Division (DRI Naresuan University), took a significant step forward in advancing its research capabilities by hosting an exclusive seminar, “Mastering Global Research Grants: Tips, Tools, and Trends,” featuring world-renowned grant writing experts on January 23, 2025, at the King Naresuan the Great Exhibition and Convention Center (KNECC), Phitsanulok, Thailand. The event, opened by the NU President Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, brought together international grant experts and successful recipients to share crucial insights into securing global research funding. The seminar comprised four sessions, with Dr. Yutthapong Tongpob, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development, serving as master of ceremony. Session 1: Prof. Dr. Simon M.Y. Lee of Hong Kong Polytechnic University headlined the morning session on “Writing Competitive Global Research Grant Proposals: Best Practices” with his innovative “SIMON LEE” framework for grant success. His comprehensive approach emphasized the critical elements of grant writing, from establishing significance and innovation to demonstrating strong preliminary evidence and team expertise. This practical framework provided researchers with a clear roadmap for developing compelling proposals. Session 2: EU grant expert Prof. Dr. Andrei Szuder (an Adjunct Professor at Naresuan University) complemented the program with his talk on “Writing Effective EU Grant Proposals and ERASMUS+ Proposal Preparation.” He emphasized his masterclass on navigating the complexities of European funding mechanisms, particularly the highly competitive ERASMUS+ program. His presentation offered invaluable insider perspectives on European research collaboration opportunities. Session 3: Dr. Phisut Apichayakul, Vice President for International Relations and Technology Transfer at Naresuan University, explored global research funding opportunities. Session 4: A highlight was the dynamic panel discussion featuring successful grant recipients who have secured prestigious international funding. Dr. Phisut Apichayakul moderated the panel discussion, titled “From Experience to Excellence: Insights from Successful International Grant Recipients,” with Prof. Dr. Jarupa Viyoch, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sukunya Ross, and Suparat Chuechote. The panelists offered practical advice drawn from their experiences with Franco-Thai, Horizon Europe, ERASMUS, and SEAMEO STEM-ED programs. The discussion, skillfully moderated by Prof. Dr. Kornkanok Ingkaninan and Dr. Yutthapong Tongpob, provided attendees with real-world strategies for grant success. This seminar aimed to equip researchers with advanced skills in drafting competitive international research grant proposals while fostering international research networks.
